The BT Openreach and KN Circet Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) initiative in Scotland represents a significant advancement in connectivity for communities throughout the area. This ambitious project aims to deliver ultra-fast broadband directly to residences and businesses, fundamentally transforming the way people engage, work, and communicate.
Future Group has been subcontracted by BT Openreach and KN Circet to provide both Asbestos and Structured cabling services. Within Future Group, the Asbestos division is responsible for the removal and disposal of asbestos-containing materials such as chambers, ducts, and pits. This task arises from the necessity to replace existing infrastructure containing asbestos components. Working closely with KN Group/Circet civil engineering teams and relevant standby service providers (including water, gas, telecoms, and traffic management), Future Group ensures the safe and controlled removal of asbestos, maintaining strict adherence to safety protocols throughout the operation.
Additionally, Future Group's dedicated KN division is subcontracted to deliver cabling services from the AG node (spine) to the splitter of the PON (Passive Optical Network). This involves splicing incoming fiber from the exchange onto the splitter, distributing 32 fibers outward to the premises. The pre-designed network is constructed and spliced to establish a Connectorised Block Terminal (CBT) within 150 meters of each property. During these activities, Future Group installs Cof 600 cable underground (UG) and ultra-lightweight (ULW) cable overhead (OH), as well as deploying CBTs both underground and overhead. All operations are conducted in strict accordance with precise Openreach and KN health and safety regulations.
